XCAD dental scanner

Project description

A dental scanner is a sophisticated piece of hardware/software allowing dentists to obtain a 3D representation of a dental mold. This 3D object is then used in order to better design dental prosthesis, interventions or even facial surgery. Thanks to the alliance between AQSENSE and Velasco group, the first Brazilian dental scanner have been developed and commercialized, becoming a low cost alternative in the dental market.

3D cameras

Project description

The AQSENSE's Peak Detector is a tool which allow the detection of the maximum intensity point of a laser stripe, with sub-pixel accuracy, providing much better results than a tipical Center of Gravity (COG) detecion.

Thanks to its FPGA version it has becomed a part of Photonfocus 3D cameras which, therefore, directly provide high precision range maps.

Sand Scanner

Project description

The Eurotank project is an initiative of the Utrech University, consisting on a huge sand pit where, thanks to water flows and an underlying robot moving the subsurface, sand patterns are created and 3D scanned. The main purpose of this project is gaining a better understanding of the origin of rivers and deltas, as well as dealing more efficiently with water management, for example by constructing dikes more effectively. Also the NASA has used this lab in order to study the Mars surface and its water possibility. AQSENSE has participated in this project by providing a calibration system for such a big surface and also by correcting the distortion introduced by the camera lenses.

Food slicing

Project description

When slicing food, each exceeding gram means looses and each missing gram could entail customers dissatisfaction. This machines, developed together with leading food machinery companies, perform a 360º scan of a food piece coming over a conveyor belt and automatically adjust the cutting so that each slide has the exact weight.

Coconuts

Project description

A popular dessert in Spain is a coconut shell filled with coconut ice-cream. But not all the coconut shells are the same size and thus not all are valid for this sweet. Thanks to AQSENSE technology, shells coming over a conveyor belt were 3D scanned and classified according to its volume.

Automotive quality control

Project description

The automotive industry is always seeking new ways to improve its product quality in order to ensure better performance and security. This project used SAL3D library to scan engine parts, compare them with a reference CAD model and measure if the difference was acceptable or not.

Tires inspection

Project description

The embossed drawings on the surface of tires are the key to ensure grip and thus security. Thanks to a laser triangulation system and SAL3D library they can be 3D scanned assuring that there is no malformation which would lead to a lower quality.
