Working with 3D cameras or 3D sensors

Photonfocus

3DExpress contains a special acquisition driver to interface with the MV1-D2048x1088-3D03 camera from Photonfocus. Even though the camera can work in three modes (2D, 2D/3D, and 3D only), 3DExpress only supports the 3D modes (2D/3D and 3D only). In addition to supporting the laser line extraction, 3DExpress also supports the laser width information provided by the camera. To access this data, the user has to define a new output with ExtraFrame information.

Automation Technology GigE cameras

3DExpress also contains a driver to interface with Automation Technology 3D GigE cameras. In addition to supporting the laser line extraction, 3DExpress also supports the additional information provided by the camera. To access this data, the user has to define a new output with ExtraFrame information.

LMI Gocator Profile Sensors

3DExpress also contains a driver to interface with LMI Gocator 3D sensors.

This driver requires the installation of the CVB GenICam Driver.

Other 3D Cameras

3DExpress contains a generic driver for other 3D GigE cameras that deliver the RangeMap information as an image format.

When defining a new input, the user should select the option Generic 3D camera and then choose the appropriate driver.

Using SAL3D Drivers to interface with 2D Cameras

3DExpress allows to use the SAL3D Frame Grabber & Camera Drivers to interect with more cameras and framegrabbers.

These framegrabbers include a list of drivers for cameraLink framegrabbers and some USB cameras.

Please, read section Custom configuration (advanced) for more information.

Using the CVB GenICam to interface with 2D Cameras

3DExpress uses a 3rd party driver for the GenICam camera transfers: Image Manager, of Common Vision Blox from Stemmer.

This driver works freely for Automation Technology GigE cameras, but requires an extra license in case of wanting GenICam acquisition from other camera providers. In case of not having a license, a nagging picture will appear in the acquired images.

To get a CVB GenICam license from Stemmer, please contact Stemmer Imaging.
